sit up: STAY AWAKE to stay awake and not go to bed although it is late

sit about / around: to spend time sitting down and doing very little

sit back: RELAX to relax in a chair so that your back is against the back of the chair

sit back: DO NOTHING to wait for something to happen without making any effort to do anything yourself

sit in: to go to a meeting or class to watch

sth out: NOT DO to not do an activity such as a game or dance because you are tired or have an injury

sit sth out: WAIT to wait for something unpleasant to finish before you do anything

sit through sth: to stay until the end of a meeting, performance, etc that is very long or boring

sit up: MOVEMENT to move your body to a sitting position after you have been lying down
